Local DEM 3D surface

Shape the web workbench ground with local elevation data

Open a single-band DEM with a supported coordinate system and georeferencing. In its display settings, choose “3D surface”, then tilt the map. The existing image and relief shading modes remain available, and the default mode is unchanged.

When several local DEMs use this mode, the top visible surface in layer order shapes the ground. Hiding, removing or reordering a layer switches the active surface. Multiple DEMs are not mosaicked. Opacity affects the imagery overlay; elevation follows exaggeration. The surface pauses on the globe and resumes in Mercator when you return to the data extent.

Exaggeration ranges from0.1 to20. Raster identification returns original pixel elevation; map terrain elevation includes exaggeration. Missing data and locations outside the raster have no elevation. Surface mode does not invent elevations from edge filling; the existing relief shading retains its edge treatment.

The browser workspace retains original files as Blobs. The spatial engine reads tiles as needed, remounts files after its task Worker restarts, and restores display mode and exaggeration from the workspace. Multi-band images do not offer the 3D surface option. Existing geometry editing continues to follow its planar-view restrictions.

Actual Workbench and engine WASM acceptance covers18 real frames atDPR1/2:500/800m DEMs query as1000/2400m at2/3×, missing/outside elevation is null, and original pixel elevation remains500m. Visibility, engine restart, globe return, workspace restoration and removal pass. The accepted8fc51305 core SDK archive is preserved; only application WASM and host integration change. Mobile GIS/iOS, remaining complete terrain capabilities, device/external validation and formal release remain pending.
