Editing and export

Edit features on the map, save to browser storage, and download results.

Edit map features

  1. Turn off globe mode, select a vector layer, and choose Edit.
  2. Use Select to pick features; Shift-click or box-select for multiple features. Move translates the selection, while Vertex adjusts vertices.
  3. For polygons, pick holes or independent parts on the map and follow the controls to fill a hole or delete a part. Deleting the last part requires deleting the entire feature instead.
  4. When drawing, click to add points, Enter to finish, Backspace to remove the last point, and Esc to cancel. Undo and Redo are available for changes.
  5. Apply the edits, or choose Discard and confirm restoration of the pre-edit data.

Polygon editing tools have different scopes: some affect the whole layer when no features are selected. Read the toolbar's scope hint before acting; selecting the intended features first makes verification easier.

Apply and save to the workspace

Applying changed edits attempts to save them in the current browser workspace and retains the original data layer, hidden by default. It does not overwrite the disk file you originally selected.

If storage is full or unavailable, the map may be updated while the changes remain unsaved and can be lost on refresh. Export first. Download results for long-term storage, cross-device use, or delivery.

Download results

  1. Select the target layer and choose File → Export layer, or select a format from the toolbar's output menu.
  2. Verify the layer, format, and scope: all features or the current attribute search results.
  3. Check the target coordinate system. KML and CSV always use WGS84 longitude and latitude.
  4. Export, wait for success, and retrieve the file from browser downloads.
  5. Reopen it to check location, record counts, fields, and geometry.
FormatOutput
GeoJSONVector feature file
ShapefileArchive containing the companion files; keep the complete set
GeoPackageGeoPackage file
KMLWGS84 longitude/latitude data
CSVAttributes and a WKT geometry column using WGS84 coordinates

The export dialog describes the available coordinate systems. Entering an EPSG code does not guarantee support. If conversion fails, check support and retain the original data.
